Thank you for electing me to District Council as Measham North’s Representative.
My best wishes to my opponent from Labour, Richard Moore. Thank you for a clean and decent contest between 2 gentlemen. I wish you well for your future.
Because of other results across NW Leics, the Conservative Party are no longer in control of NW Leicestershire District Council. I am really disappointed about this outcome because, as many of you know, I was very much looking forward to learning alongside some of the best Local Councillors in the country whilst in government.
Some fantastic public servants lost their seats in these elections. NW Leics will be worse off for losing those people I believe, but I always respect the voice of the people and do my best no matter what hand I am dealt.
So instead of governing, I will be in opposition when in Coalville Chambers. That said, I still expect to achieve many of the things I talked to you about on the doorstep – the personal pledges, at least. I may not have as many blue colleagues in Chambers, but I still have my drive, my capabilities and my hope.
Whilst the largest group in the Council may have changed, my light has been allowed to burn brighter thanks to your votes. I will absolutely do my best to make each and every one of my 388 voters very, very proud.
I do also hope the minority of people who decided to vote against me on this occasion, will watch on and offer their support to my service of Measham North as times goes by. I do hope you will come together with the rest of Measham North who are already behind me, and help build a strong community with us.
So with the work of the campaign behind me, the REAL hard work of being your District Councillor begins.
Most of you already know I am very approachable and keen to serve. If you need help with anything District Council related please do just get in touch.
Finally, again, Thank you. I’m really looking forward to these next four years, to serving you and serving Measham North.
Kind Regards,
Paul
