I said at the election last year that I would support our Community Groups. Today I have submitted the following statement in Support of Measham Events CIC’s Grant Application. As you’ll see, it really matters what people say to me on the doorstep, and I ensure decisions are made by Officers with your views in mind.
The decision is pending but when we pull together like this, we are all more likely to succeed and deliver for Measham.

I would like to state my support for the application from Measham Events CIC for Grant Funding for their Summer Event. Having met with them last Autumn ahead of their Christmas Event, it is clear to me that they are a passionate group who would like to generate a stronger community spirit.
It is also extremely important to note that, during my own conversations, there is a thirst for this type of event with the residents of Measham. People raised it with me on the doorstep a significant number of times and they wondered why the previously held summer event had ceased and were disappointed with that situation.
During my interaction with Measham Events, I was able to make multiple suggestions utilising my Entrepreneurial background which appeared to be warmly received. If taken on, they would make the long term viability of the Measham Events CIC more likely.
Therefore, I would ask that if NWLDC Officers have any reservations that would result in a refusal of Grant Funding on this occasion, that we proactively work with Measham Events CIC to turn that around before the deadline. They appear to warmly receive advice, are passionate as a group, and there is a need as highlighted by the community.
In my opinion, this would be a very good use of funds.
Sincerely,
Cllr Paul Lees
