Measham Warm Places

Today was inspiring.

I believe in helping the people of my community. I’ve done it all my life and today I met a group of like minded people that I will look forward to supporting and advocating for at District Council if I am lucky enough to be elected on 4th May.

The Measham Warm Places Initiative was only set up last Autumn, yet they are already having a positive impact on people living in Measham. They provide a warm place to be, a warm meal, and a sense of community for the people of Measham.

Based at Measham Library, it is run by volunteers primarily associated with the Library, along with Carole Lunn from Age UK in Measham. They are raising funds by holding various events such as the Pre-Loved clothing sale they held today, Sunday 26th March 2023

I am very grateful to them for the time they took to explain their initiative to me. I was able to listen to how they are being supported in their activities at present, and also what support they may benefit from moving forward.

It was also very interesting to hear about how Measham Library operates and the challenges that it is facing. The Library is run by the County Council, rather than the District Council, but as a passionate believer in the benefits of a strong education system, I’ll be asking questions this week to find out more.

You can find out more about Measham Warm Places on their Facebook Page. Here is the link for it: https://www.facebook.com/Measham-Warm-Places-103746065875562

For me, this is what being a good District Councillor will be and I’m excited about it. It’s about being involved. It’s about Helping, Listening to and Supporting superb community projects like this. If I am privileged enough to be elected as your Ward Councillor for Measham North on 4th May I will truly enjoy advocating for Measham Warm Places and all of the other good causes we have in our community.
