My intention in this campaign is to introduce myself to every person in Measham North so that you get to look me in the eye and put a character to the face on the leaflets. If I’m fortunate enough to be elected, I want you to know you can speak to me and I will always do my best to serve you.
You will find me to be caring, bubbly, energetic and enthusiastic. You might even find me to be smart and competent, but I will let you decide that bit for yourself!
I’ve said to everyone; please vote for the best and most capable candidate – the one who can serve Measham North the best. If you wish to challenge me on any topic that I stand for in an effort to discover whether I’m the best for Measham, then please do. I will always respond with respect and decency and I will listen to your point of view and place value on it.
That is what a good advocate should do and I believe a good District Councillor should be a great advocate.
One evening last week I knocked on a door of a gentleman who I later found out had had rather a bad day. I received a little flack for my Party allegiance and we didn’t get off to a great start. Throughout our conversation, I showed him the respect I have committed to show all of you in this campaign.
The conversation got better and our understanding for each other grew. It turns out he had previously stood in a General Election to become an MP for another party. He had loads of great points to make and a knowledge of the system which I hope to draw on during my term if I am elected. That’s right, by the end of the conversation, he had given me his telephone number and we will hopefully be working together for the good of Measham if I am elected.
I really do care about Measham and about doing a great job. The gentleman in question knows that now and I was delighted to read in one of his text messages later that evening that I had earned his respect.
For me, part of looking everyone in the eye is me making a contract with you that I will continue to serve you to the best of my ability after the election.
I will continue with moral decency, respect for all, and kindness.
If you want a District Councillor who serves on those principles, please vote for me, Paul Lees, your Conservative Party candidate on 4th May in the North West Leicestershire District Council elections
